Here’s what you need to know about travel requirements when entering Canada from the United States.

U.S. Citizens

No Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required — no matter how you travel.

By air, land, or sea: You do not need an eTA.

📄 What to bring: A valid U.S. passport.

 

U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders)

Entry requirements depend on how you travel:

✈️ Flying to Canada: You need an eTA.

🚗🛳 Driving or arriving by land or sea (car, bus, train, or cruise): You do not need an eTA.

📄 What to bring:

  • Your valid passport from your country of citizenship.
  • Your valid U.S. Green Card.
